John D. Lowry
John Lowry founded Lowry Digital in 1999 and is Special Advisor to the Board. Now in his 56th year working with motion picture and television images, John’s primary focus for the past 35 years has been the design and development of analog and digital image processing systems to improve the quality of motion picture images.

His prior work includes system design in 1971 for the system at Image Transform that was used to clean up and enhance the live television pictures from the moon during the Apollo 16 and Apollo 17 missions.

At Digital Video Systems in 1974, John was one of the pioneers in digital video, doing system design of digital time base correctors; frame store TBC/synchronizers; test-signal generators; line-translation scrambling; and satellite scrambling and encryption.

In 1988, he pioneered one of the very first multimedia CD-ROM projects and helped pave the way for millions of children to learn to read using his CD-ROM software.

Dedicated to entrepreneurship and the advancement of the art of moving picture image quality, Mr. Lowry holds numerous patents on motion image processing technology and is a Life Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
